Consort: (noun) def.: an instrumental ensemble popular in England during the 16th and 17th centuries. The word consort was also used to indicate the music itself and the performance.

Consort: (verb) def.: to hang out with.

Gig (noun) def.: a job of any kind, musical or not. Some jazz historians believe that the term originated from a dance called a "gigue"

Gigue (noun) def.: a jig; a dance or dance movement, usually in 6/8 time, popular throughout the Renaissance and Baroque periods.

Renaissance: (noun) def.: a time of rebirth, specifically the period from the close of the Middle Ages characterized by the rediscovery and exploration of the intellectual ideas of the ancient Greek and Roman world in music, art, and other intellectual pursuits.

Baroque (adj.) def.: mis-shapen, grotesque, specifically of a pearl; more positively, characterized by ornate detail to produce works of great beauty
